The release of the Winter Offensive Weapon Case was part of the Winter Offensive update at the end of 2013, and it was the first case containing community-made CS:GO skins exclusively.

After finishing CS:GO matches, players have a chance to get one of these CS:GO weapon cases dropping for them as a free reward. With the Arms Deal update in 2013, Valve introduced weapon cases.
